Houston Astros vs Cleveland Guardians — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Houston Astros offense exploded for four runs in the fourth inning, seizing control of the game en route to a decisive 9-2 victory over the Cleveland Guardians. Isaac Paredes powered the Houston lineup with two home runs, while starting pitcher Spencer Arrighetti navigated through early threats to secure the win.

Houston took an early lead in the first inning on a two-run homer by Walker. Cleveland responded quickly when Hoskins delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the first, then tied the game in the third inning after Valera's RBI single brought home Ramírez. However, the tie proved fleeting, setting the stage for the Astros' breakout.

The pivotal moment arrived in the top of the fourth when Houston erupted for four runs. Paredes led off the inning by launching a solo home run to left field, breaking the 2-2 deadlock. Later in the frame, Matthews doubled home Smith, and Correa followed with a two-run single that extended the lead to 6-2. This offensive surge provided Arrighetti with a comfortable advantage, and he departed after five innings, having allowed only two earned runs.

From that point, the Astros methodically built on their lead, with sacrifice flies from Diaz and Smith in the fifth and seventh innings, respectively, further widening the margin. Paredes capped his standout performance with his second solo blast in the ninth, underscoring Houston's relentless attack. The Astros' ability to answer Cleveland's tying runs with a comprehensive rally secured the victory. Houston improved to 64-62, while Cleveland dropped to 60-66.
