Detroit Tigers vs Boston Red Sox — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Boston Red Sox pulled away late, securing an 8-6 victory over the Detroit Tigers after a back-and-forth contest at Fenway Park. A five-run surge across the seventh and eighth innings provided the decisive margin, creating separation that Detroit could not overcome despite a spirited ninth-inning rally. Boston opened the scoring in the second inning when Durbin crossed the plate on a throwing error by pitcher Flaherty, followed by Mayer scoring on a walk to Abreu. Detroit responded with a run in the third off Rogers' single and tied the game in the fourth on Lee's single. The Tigers then took a brief lead in the sixth on Jones' single, only for Anthony to immediately even the score for Boston later that inning. The Red Sox broke the deadlock decisively in the bottom of the seventh. Rafaela's two-run single brought home Story and Yoshida, and Narváez then singled home Rafaela to extend the lead to 6-3. Boston further solidified its position in the eighth when Kiner-Falefa singled to right, scoring Yoshida and Story once more. Detroit mounted a final charge in the ninth, with Torres singling home Lee, followed by Riley Greene's two-run double that scored McGonigle and Torres, but the late surge proved insufficient. Boston's ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities in the seventh and eighth innings ultimately sealed the win, preventing the Tigers' late offensive outburst from completing a comeback. The Red Sox improved their record to 67-58, while the Tigers fell to 60-65.
