Game Recap
The Boston Red Sox secured a narrow victory over the Kansas City Royals, rallying late to overcome a deficit in a tightly contested affair. A decisive two-run home run in the seventh inning ultimately provided the Red Sox with their winning margin, capping a seesaw battle.
Kansas City initially took the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Perez homered to left. Boston quickly responded in the second; Sogard's single brought home Contreras, and the Red Sox then claimed a temporary lead on a double play that allowed Rafaela to score. The Royals reclaimed their advantage in the fifth on a two-run blast from DΓaz, driving in Marte ahead of him, setting the stage for late-game drama.
While Michael Wacha delivered a strong outing for the Royals, striking out eight and allowing only one earned run through six innings, his efforts weren't enough to hold off Boston's persistent offense. The Red Sox finally broke through in the seventh inning when Jarren Duran launched a two-run home run to left field, scoring NarvΓ‘ez. This clutch hit erased Kansas City's lead and put Boston ahead for good.
The Red Sox's ability to capitalize on key moments, highlighted by Duran's critical homer, proved just enough to edge out the Royals in a game where both teams traded blows. Boston now moves to a 67-58 record, while Kansas City falls to 51-75.
