📰Game Recap

Cleveland scored twice in the 10th inning to take the lead and ultimately secure a tight victory over Detroit. This extra-inning affair saw the Guardians rally from a one-run deficit in the ninth to force extra frames, then plate two more runs to gain control. The Tigers managed to get one run back in the bottom of the tenth but couldn't complete their own comeback.

The game remained scoreless into the seventh inning, a testament to strong pitching on both sides. Detroit broke the deadlock in the bottom of the seventh when Vierling hit a sacrifice fly to left, bringing McGonigle home and giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead. That slim advantage held until the top of the ninth. With their final regulation out looming, Cleveland pushed across the tying run when Bailey grounded out to second, allowing Schneemann to score and sending the game to extra innings.

The decisive moment came in the top of the 10th inning, where the Guardians strung together key hits to plate two runs. Martínez tripled to right field, scoring Rocchio and giving Cleveland their first lead of the game. José Ramírez then immediately followed with a double to center, driving in Martínez and extending the lead to 3-1. While Detroit's Zach McKinstry singled to right in the bottom of the frame to score Pérez, cutting the deficit to one, the damage in the top half proved insurmountable. Cleveland starter Tanner Bibee was instrumental in keeping the game close through eight innings, allowing only one earned run and striking out five, setting the foundation for the late heroics.

Ultimately, the Cleveland Guardians prevailed due to their clutch hitting in the late innings, first to tie the game in the ninth and then to take a decisive lead in the tenth. Their ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities in extra innings proved to be the difference in a pitchers' duel. Following this victory, Cleveland's record moved to 61-65, while Detroit fell to 60-65.
