San Francisco Giants vs Arizona Diamondbacks — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-3, finally pulling away in a contest that saw multiple lead changes and ties. A decisive three-run fifth inning allowed the Diamondbacks to break a 3-3 deadlock and secure their victory.

San Francisco initiated the scoring, taking an early lead when Schmitt homered to left field in the first inning. Arizona quickly countered, with Perdomo hitting a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame to plate Ketel Marte and tie the game. The Giants briefly recaptured the lead in the second on an Eldridge double. However, the Diamondbacks surged ahead for the first time in the third inning, as Ketel Marte launched a two-run homer to center, putting them up 3-2. San Francisco refused to back down, drawing even again in the top of the fourth thanks to Gilbert’s RBI single.

The turning point came in the bottom of the fifth inning, where Arizona mounted a three-run rally. Vargas broke the tie by grounding out to first, allowing Tawa to score. Perdomo then followed with a crucial two-run double to right field, bringing home Marte and Waldschmidt and extending Arizona's lead to 6-3. This three-run outburst, the largest scoring inning of the game, proved to be insurmountable for the Giants. Ketel Marte was a central figure in Arizona's offense throughout the game, collecting three hits, including a home run, driving in two runs, and scoring three times.

Arizona's persistent offense and a pivotal fifth-inning surge ultimately proved too much for the Giants to overcome, as the Diamondbacks continually found answers to San Francisco's scoring threats. The win improves the Diamondbacks' record to 67-60, while the Giants fall to 51-74.
