📰Game Recap

The Tampa Bay Rays orchestrated a dramatic late-game rally, scoring four runs in the eighth inning to overcome a two-run deficit and defeat the Baltimore Orioles 5-3. The decisive outburst negated a strong start from Baltimore and its key power hitters.

Tampa Bay initially took the lead in the second inning when Feduccia launched a solo home run to center field. Baltimore quickly responded, as Pete Alonso's single in the third inning brought Ward home, tying the contest. The Orioles then surged ahead in the sixth, with Alonso delivering another solo shot, followed immediately by Basallo's home run to right field, putting Baltimore up 3-1.

The game's turning point arrived in the bottom of the eighth inning, where the Rays' offense exploded for four runs. Jonathan Aranda tied the game with a two-run double to center field, scoring Dunn and Simpson. Palacios then singled to right, driving in Aranda and giving the Rays a 4-3 lead. The final run of the inning came on a daring play as Vilade stole home, while Palacios simultaneously stole second, extending Tampa Bay's lead to 5-3. This significant inning completely shifted the momentum after Baltimore pitcher Shane Baz had provided a solid outing, allowing only one earned run through six innings and striking six.

The Rays' relentless eighth-inning assault proved too much for the Orioles to overcome, showcasing their ability to capitalize on late-game opportunities and convert them into runs. They secured the win by turning a multi-run deficit into a commanding lead in one decisive frame. Following the victory, the Rays improved their record to 75-49, while the Orioles fell to 61-64.
