Game Recap
The Colorado Rockies staged a dramatic ninth-inning rally, scoring five runs to overcome a three-run deficit and secure a walk-off victory against the San Francisco Giants. Ezequiel Tovar's second home run of the game sealed the improbable comeback after the Giants appeared poised to close out the contest.
Colorado opened the scoring in the second inning when Ezequiel Tovar stole home. The Giants quickly responded, tying the game 1-1 in the third on a sacrifice fly from Adames, then building a 3-1 lead in the fourth with another sacrifice fly by Susac and an RBI single from Bader. Their advantage grew to 4-1 in the eighth before Tovar hit a two-run homer in the bottom of that inning, bringing the Rockies within a single run. San Francisco then added two more runs in the top of the ninth on a Devers triple and a Chapman single, creating a seemingly comfortable 6-3 advantage heading into the final frame.
The bottom of the ninth proved to be the decisive turning point as the Rockies erupted for five runs. Hunter Goodman ignited the rally with a game-tying three-run home run to left field, bringing home Jake McCarthy and Tyler Freeman and knotting the score at 6-6. With the game tied, Tovar stepped to the plate and delivered a walk-off two-run home run to left field, scoring Castro and completing Colorado's stunning comeback. Tovar was instrumental throughout the contest, contributing two home runs and four RBIs.
Colorado's late-game power surge in the final inning ultimately decided the contest, as the Giants' bullpen faltered after a strong outing from Logan Webb. This thrilling finish advanced the Rockies' record to 51-76, while the Giants fell to 51-75.
