Arizona Diamondbacks vs Colorado Rockies — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Colorado Rockies never relinquished their lead Tuesday night, defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2. A consistent, if not explosive, offensive attack coupled with the Diamondbacks' inability to string together hits proved to be the difference, as Arizona scored only two runs, one coming in an unconventional manner. Colorado quickly jumped ahead in the first inning. Rumfield singled to left, bringing home Castro, and Mickey Moniak followed with a single to center, scoring Doyle to give the Rockies a 2-0 advantage. Arizona answered in the top of the second when Gurriel Jr. stole home plate, narrowing the deficit to a single run. However, the Rockies responded immediately in the bottom half, with McCarthy singling to left field to score Karros, extending their lead to 3-1. Ketel Marte scored for the Diamondbacks in the fifth on a Carroll double to right, again bringing Arizona within one run. The Rockies' consistent ability to answer Arizona's brief rallies was crucial. Moniak, who contributed to Colorado's early lead, secured the team's final run in the eighth inning when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, allowing Doyle to score and pushing the lead to 4-2. While Eduardo Rodriguez allowed three earned runs over 5.1 innings for Arizona, the Diamondbacks' lineup simply could not generate enough consistent offense to overcome even a modest deficit throughout the game, failing to put together a multi-run inning. Ultimately, the Rockies’ early scoring and late insurance run, combined with Arizona’s struggles to produce runs outside of isolated scoring plays, allowed Colorado to secure the victory. The Diamondbacks now stand at 66-61, while the Rockies improved their record to 51-75.
