Walker then cleared the bases with a double to left, bringing home Paredes, Wade Jr., and Altuve to cut the deficit to 5-4. Cam Smith then delivered the decisive blow, launching a 383-foot, two-run homer to left, scoring Walker and giving the Astros their first lead of the game at 6-5. Not content, Houston continued to pile on, with Altuve's infield single scoring Peña and Wade Jr.'s walk bringing Alvarez home, capping a monumental inning that saw them suddenly up 8-5.

Houston added an insurance run in the top of the ninth when Vázquez hit a ground rule double, allowing Trammell to score and solidifying the upset victory. Cam Smith's impactful performance, highlighted by his game-changing home run, proved to be the top batting performance with 1 hit, 2 RBI, and 1 run scored, while the collective effort of the Astros' offense erased an early deficit and stunned the favored White Sox.
