Baltimore initially took the lead in the second inning on a 2-RBI double from Christian Encarnacion-Strand. The Braves responded in the fourth with a sacrifice fly from Dubón and an RBI single by Riley to tie the game, but Baltimore immediately reclaimed the lead later that inning on a sacrifice fly from Holliday.

The tight battle continued into the late frames, with Atlanta's Baldwin launching a solo home run in the eighth inning to even the score at 3-3, forcing extra innings. The turning point came swiftly in the top of the tenth when the Braves erupted for four runs. Jarvis's grounder resulted in a fielder's choice that allowed Hicklen to score, with a throwing error by second baseman Holliday allowing Bart and Jarvis to advance. Olson then sealed the surge with a colossal 416-foot, three-run homer to right-center, giving Atlanta a commanding 7-3 advantage.

The Orioles, however, were not without fight in the bottom of the tenth. Jackson's sacrifice fly brought home Ward, and Christian Encarnacion-Strand continued his impressive day with a 396-foot, two-run home run to right-center, narrowing the deficit to a single run. Encarnacion-Strand finished with two hits, including his home run, four RBI, and a run scored, while Orioles pitcher Trevor Rogers had a strong start, pitching 7.0 innings and allowing only two earned runs with six strikeouts. Despite Baltimore's late rally and strong individual performances, the Braves ultimately held on for the 7-6 upset win.
