Peña continued to challenge, tying the game again in the third with another solo shot, this time to right center, only for Murakami to drive in Romo later that inning with a groundout, putting the White Sox back on top 3-2.

Houston battled to stay in contention, with Trammell tying the game for a third time in the fifth inning with a commanding 426-foot solo blast to center. Yet, the White Sox would not relinquish their lead for long. In the bottom of the sixth, Vargas delivered a crucial two-run homer to left, scoring Antonacci and pushing Chicago ahead 5-3. Astros starter Ronel Blanco, who ultimately surrendered five earned runs over 5.1 innings while striking out four, saw his outing conclude after this scoring play as the White Sox started to pull away.

The definitive turning point arrived in the bottom of the seventh inning when the White Sox exploded for four runs, significantly extending their lead. Meidroth kicked off the rally with a solo home run to left center, followed by Munetaka Murakami's two-run single to center that brought home Romo and Perez. Benintendi then singled to left, allowing Murakami to score and cap off the big inning, giving Chicago a commanding 9-3 advantage.

The White Sox offense continued their onslaught in the eighth inning, adding three more runs to seal their victory. Perez contributed a two-run homer to left, scoring Meidroth, before Munetaka Murakami smashed his second home run of the game, a solo shot to right center, bringing the score to its final count of 12-3. Murakami's stellar performance earned him top batting honors, as he finished the day with an incredible 3 hits, including 2 home runs, 6 RBI, and 3 runs scored, ensuring the 55-49 White Sox defeated the 52-55 Astros as the pregame favorite.
