They then added crucial insurance runs in the eighth; Kreidler tripled to score Lee, and Jeffers notched an infield single that allowed Kreidler to cross the plate, bringing the score to 11-6 heading into the final inning.

The Athletics mounted one last push in the ninth, with McNeil singling to score White, and Cortes grounding into a fielder's choice that brought Walton home. However, their rally fell short, as the Twins closed out the game with an 11-8 victory, living up to their pregame market expectation. While Prielipp's five-plus innings of one-run ball was key for Minnesota, Oakland's Nick Kurtz stood out with his lone hit of the day being the pivotal three-run homer that brought his team back into contention.
