A dominant pitching performance from Janson Junk and a single explosive inning at the plate proved to be the difference for the Marlins, who successfully navigated a challenge from their division rivals to secure a 5-2 win.

The game remained scoreless through the early innings, largely due to Janson Junk's stellar outing for Miami. Junk held the Mets at bay for five full innings, striking out four batters and allowing no earned runs, setting the stage for his offense. The Marlins offense broke the deadlock in the top of the fifth inning, which quickly became the turning point of the game. Marsee doubled to right field, bringing Conine home and advancing Hernández to third. Mack followed with a single to left, scoring both Hernández and Marsee. Not content, Edwards then singled to right, driving in Mack and capping off a huge four-run frame, giving Miami a commanding 4-0 lead. The Mets managed to get on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Ewing singled to center, allowing Polanco to score.

Miami extended its lead in the top of the sixth when Stowers crushed a 417-foot solo home run to center field, pushing the score to 5-1. The Mets continued to fight, with their top batter Francisco Lindor delivering a solo shot of his own in the bottom of the seventh, sending a 392-foot blast to right field and narrowing the gap to 5-2. Lindor finished the day with two hits, including his home run, an RBI, and a run scored, a bright spot for the Mets' offense.

Despite Lindor's effort, the Marlins' early outburst and Junk's initial shutdown performance were too much for the Mets to overcome. Miami's bullpen held strong to close out the game, securing a vital road win and handing the favored Mets an unexpected loss. The victory allowed the Marlins to maintain their balanced record, while the Mets continued their struggles.
