πŸ“°Game Recap

The Miami Marlins jumped out to an early lead and then broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning, ultimately securing a 9-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins. This offensive surge proved decisive, allowing Miami to maintain control despite intermittent scoring from Minnesota throughout the contest.

Miami quickly got on the board in the first inning when Lopez’s infield single brought home Edwards, and Hicks later scored on a double play, giving the Marlins a 2-0 advantage. Minnesota’s Byron Buxton responded with a solo home run to left in the bottom half of the inning. The Marlins extended their lead in the second inning when Caissie blasted a two-run homer to left-center. Buxton continued his strong performance for the Twins in the third, hitting his second solo shot of the game to narrow the gap once more.

The Marlins truly asserted their dominance in the top of the fourth inning, plating four runs to build a substantial 8-2 lead. Mack singled to center to score JimΓ©nez, and Edwards followed with a double to left that drove in Caissie. Hicks then delivered a crucial two-run single to center, bringing home both Mack and Edwards and effectively putting the game out of reach. While Minnesota attempted to chip away with a two-run double from Bell in the fifth and a solo homer from Clemens in the eighth, the early damage was too significant to overcome. Max Meyer pitched 5.2 innings for Miami, striking out nine batters while allowing four earned runs.

Miami’s ability to consistently generate offense and capitalize on scoring opportunities throughout the early and middle innings, particularly their impactful four-run rally, proved to be the difference against the Twins. Following this win, the Marlins improved their record to 65-61, while the Twins fell to 60-66.
