The Milwaukee Brewers, entering the contest as a favored club with a dominant 66-39 record against the 44-62 New York Mets, quickly took control of the game. In the bottom of the first inning, Turang doubled to right field, bringing home Chourio to open the scoring. Mitchell then followed with a single to right, scoring Turang and giving Milwaukee an early 2-0 advantage. The Brewers extended their lead in the second when Pratt launched a 393-foot solo home run to center field, pushing the score to 3-0.

The Mets managed to get on the board in the top of the third inning when Alvarez scored on a double play groundout by Soto, cutting the deficit to 3-1. However, the Brewers' offense was quick to respond. In the very next half-inning, Vaughn crushed a 393-foot homer to center, scoring Mitchell ahead of him and immediately restoring Milwaukee's four-run cushion at 5-1.

The decisive blow of the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning, which proved to be the turning point. Joey Ortiz, who delivered the top batting performance of the night, blasted a 373-foot home run to left field, bringing home Bauers and Pratt. This three-run shot extended Milwaukee's lead to 8-1, putting the game firmly out of reach for the visiting Mets. On the pitching side, Jacob Misiorowski was a standout for the Brewers, contributing 4.0 dominant innings without allowing an earned run and striking out six batters.

Despite the commanding lead, the Mets showed some late fight in the eighth inning. Lindor grounded out to first, allowing Soto to score, and moments later, Polanco singled to right, bringing home Bichette for New York's third run. However, the rally was too little, too late. The Brewers ultimately secured an 8-3 victory, living up to their pregame billing as the favorite and improving their impressive record to 67-39, while the Mets fell to 44-63.
